2014 Golden Globe Predictions

Let's see how well 2014 treats me in terms of picks. I've seen very little of the movies besides the commercials for American Hustle and of course Frozen (which I absolutely loved and that influenced my picks here). My fingers are crossed for Tatiana Maslany and Amy Poehler because I want them to win so bad and they are such lovely people. Make it happen HFPA. Regardless of who wins and who loses, I know I'll enjoy the antics of Tina and Amy hosting again.

Update: 14 out of 25. AMY POEHLER FINALLY WON! Per usual my tv picks were terrible, but I feel prepared for the Oscars now. And as always, could use more Tina and Amy hosting. There were some great moments (like Aaron Paul's "Yeah bitch!" and everything with Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Emma Thompson showing us all how hosting is done).  But overall, I felt like last year was better.

Best Motion Picture, Drama

12 Years a Slave
Captain Phillips
Gravity

2014 New Year's Resolutions

Another year, another set of resolutions to vaguely follow. Place your bets on which one I actually accomplish.

1. Post more regularly.
This means setting up a schedule and sticking to it. The busy times in my life are pretty predictable so if I can plan ahead then I can avoid those times when I go radio silent. See, sometimes I forget to post. And then I disappear out of shame because I haven't posted in foooooooorever. I'll try to be better. I promise.

2. Read more books than last year.
In 2013, I read 13 books. See? It might not be an impressive number for you, but whatever. There were some really really big books like Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell and rereading A Storm of Swords. This year, with a handy dandy Kindle that I got for Christmas, I'm aiming to read 24 books. Re-reads will count towards this goal. I'll be keeping track of them on GoodReads as well as my Read in 2014 page.

3. Craft more.
I picked up a new craft in 2013 - papercutting. And since then, my other crafts have been unintentionally pushed aside. This year I want to focus more on crafting and trying to combine my crafts whenever possible. So expect more pictures of cross-stitch, stamps, and papercutting on Instagram.

4. Be a better adult.
I am twenty-five now. I need to start doing more adult things. Like building credit, hanging all of my frames on the wall, take better care of my things and myself, etc. This is the generic "better myself" goal of the year. But don't be surprised at the end of the year if I take this to mean drink more wine and bring a bag lunch to work every day.
