What is Aubergine August?
Au-ber-gine /ˈōbərˌZHēn/ is just a fancy word for purple. The plan is to wear purple for the entire month of August

Did you lose a bet or something? Why are you doing this?
No, I did not lose a bet. This is winning because purple is amazing color. Just saying.

I chose to do this of my own free will. As legend has it, when I was in the 1st grade I was very particular about my outfits I would not leave the house without wearing some form of purple. And as I saw it, the more purple, the better. I submit into evidence exhibit A: my 1st grade school photo in which I am decked out in purple and rocking a purple background as well.

Last year in my post-college boredom, I decided to challenge myself I wondered if I could do it again giving the large quantity of purple already in my wardrobe. Would anyone notice?

Well I did it! I made it through one month of purple every day. Unfortunately I didn't document my first endeavor But that changes this year I'll be taking photos every day and posting them here.

Are there any rules?
There's really only one rule - wear purple every day. And it must be visible and noticeable. Outfits can be repeated, but variation is encouraged.

What if you don't wear purple?
Nothing really. I've been toying with the idea of punishments for noncompliance. Nothing extreme of course. More along the lines of the punishments the vlogbrothers John and Hank Green have for their videos like the cinnamon challenge or something embarrassing. Hopefuly I won't disobey the rules and need to create these purple punishments in the first place.
